Page 2

Add a new raster layer and name it stripe1.  Load from Disk stripe1.sel.

Change your foreground color to #D90000 and flood fill.  Go to Effects>Inner Bevel and use the same settings as the step above.  Deselect.

Add a new raster layer and name it stripe2.  Load from Disk stripe2.sel and flood fill then apply the same inner bevel and deselect.  Continue to do these steps through stripe5.sel. (or how many stripes you chose to do)

Activate the blue layer and move to the top of your layer palette.

Hide your layer 1 and go to Layers>Merge>Merge Visible. Rename merged layer USAmap

Select your Magic Wand and use these settings:

Highlight one of the white stripes...you should have marching ants...

Go to Selections>Modify>Select Similar and then apply
the same inner bevel as in the above steps.  Deselect.

Your image should like something like this now:

Add a new raster layer and name it stars.
Find my star.psp and apply the same bevel as above.
(On the maps USA2 and USA3 the star is somewhat smaller so after the bevel go to Effects>Sharpen>Sharpen.  This will clear up any blurred star you may have.)

Go to Edit>Copy then highlight your star layer and Edit>Paste>As New Selection.  Position the star to your liking and repeat this step until you have sufficient number of stars.

Your Image should look like this now.

If you are happy with the way it looks you may go to Layers>Merge>Merge All Visible and now you can tube it, frame or whatever you wish to do with it.  Hope you have enjoyed this patriotic tutorial.  If you have any questions or comments please feel free to email me.

I would like to 'Thank' Karren Richards for allowing me to
use her usamap selection for this tutorial and a special
thanks to Whisper who taught me how to make selections.
