Grey Scale Background

Make a 400 X 400 transparent image

Now take your tube and copy it to a
new layer on the transparent image:

You will notice that the tube is too large
for the image so we are going to reduce the
size of the tube...go to Images > Resize>
and be sure Resize all layers is UNCHECKED
...and reduce...I have reduced mine by 75%:

now move the tube to the upper left hand corner
of the transparent image and merger all layers visible.

Go to Colors  > Grey Scale >

Your image should now look like this.
Go back to Colors> Increase Color Depth>
16 Million Colors (24 bits) and click.

Now go back to your original tube...
and we are going to resize it a little
smaller than the grey scale tube..
okay I reduced the grey scale tube by 75%
...remember....so we are going to resize
the color tube by 65%...are you still
with me?  Now be sure that Resize
all layers is once again CHECKED....

Sharpen and copy to the grey scale on
a new layer.  Position it where you wish
...and add a drop shadow if you like.

We are almost finished ......
Go to your layer palette and select the
grey scale layer and lower the opacity
to around 30% then merger all layers visible.

Add your sigtag or watermark and
there you have it...all finished!
